My first foray into sculpture, I wanted to make a piece of functional art. A crown filled with cigarette stubs. I wanted to take a symbol of power and make it into a physical object into which people could dump ash in a communal act of desecration and defiance against systems of "absolute" power and dominance. What good is a crown if there is no one to rule? Simple: it becomes a vessel for the empty ashes of the reign.
